With the constant support and participation of all the experts and scholars, The Great Wall International Cardiology Congress has been held 18 times with success. Now keeping in step with the development of International cardiology, sponsored by many international academic institution and national organization, GW-ICC has developed into an multi-field and subject crossing cardiovascular academic gathering which has a multi-center, multi-dimension and multi-level interactive visualization spot and uses satellite, fiber and internet transmission methods. It is the academic meeting in Asian-pacific area sponsored by our country with largest scale, most complete subjects and best academic influence, which is also the holy place to international communication and professional learning for of the Chinese cardiovascular physician.

This year, GW-ICC will continue to bring forward the aim of “introduction, innovation, cooperation and development” and persist the guideline of “academic, open, leading and propagation”. With the theme of “beware of the risk, change your destiny and to be healthy——start with protecting your heart” and main line of “clinic research and epidemic disease, international cooperation and related subject research”, this year’s GW-ICC will be an rich-in-content and high quality academic gathering which contain subject of prevention, basic research and clinic practice, intervention, pacing and cardiac electrophysiology, image and diabetes, cerebral vascular, pulmonary vascular, thrombus, psychosomatic medicine and community medicine, etc to show the yearly concept, technology, development and achievement of 2008. Meanwhile, equipping more professional translators, this year’s meeting will emphasize more about major international brand gatherings——ACC 2008, i2 Summit, CCT, APSC and China-Europe joint forum and show more about their highlights.

Year 2008——The Olympic year will give Beijing an enhancing beauty and glory. From the GW-ICC meeting place—Beijing International Convention Center, the main stadium for Olympic Games(the Bird Nest) is near at hand. Also the national swimming center (the Water Cube) is not far away. Strolling in the Central Artery of the Olympic Park, you can experience the wave-like edges and partially staggered rows of the huge bird nest and touch the light bulbs of the soft water cube. The attendees will get 8 credits issued by the American Medical Association and 12 credits of Chinese Continuing Medical Education(Class I)

Highlights of the Conference

◆Preventive Medicine Symposium--The Risk Assessment

The risk assessment will include American Framingham Heart Study, American Black Study, Chinese Heart Study and Go Red for Women, Risk Scale, Female Health Assessment Medicine. Many national and abroad experts in preventive medical field will give their lectures. At the same time, together with the “World Heart Day” activity, we will also start “10,000 Mile March for Healthy”, attract government organization and related associations to involve, invite medias and public figures to expand influence, carry out civil mobilization, develop toward community and rural areas, advocate civilization life style, control the risk factors and change your destiny.

For the advanced popularization of smoking control and cessation, this year’s GW-ICC will emphasize the results of smoking control, praising the pioneers of smoking cessation and share the experience.

International Joint Symposium

ACC Symposium, development of cardiology 2008. The distinguished experts delegates leaded by ACC’s now chairman will give their inspirational lectures, share with the attendees the latest development of cardiovascular medicine in 2008. The attendees will get 8 credits issued by the American Medical Association

i2@GW-ICC、CCT@GW-ICC：the famous two international cardiovascular intervention grand gathering----The I2 (innovation in intervention) of the US and Summit and CCT（Complex Catheter Therapeutics）will continue to show their annual highlights. Several national and aboard well-known operating center will do live show and demonstrate with the same step.

APSC@GW-ICC：Invite international famous professors of APSC to introduce the research condition and lateset development of the cardiovascular field in Asian-Pacific area.

HRS@GW-ICC：This symposium has been acknowledged by HRS. Invite world famous experts in cardiac electrophysiology to attend. The content is about hot questions in cardiac electrophysiology and pacing, such as instrument treatment of heart failure and the medical and catheter radical operation of atrial fibrillation.

China-Japan Joint Symposium: Sponsored by Japanese Circulation Association(JCS) and Great Wall International Cardiology Congress. Chinese and Japanese scholars will exchange their opinions on the latest development of vascular biology, clinical treatment and prevention, echocardiography.

◆Case Discussion, Question Answering

Open many clinical conferences with different directions, choose typical clinical cases, involved with many subjects and majors, discuss together with the attendees and search for the answers. Set two question-answers meeting for the attendees.

Now The Great Wall International congress of cardiology(GW-ICC) has not only become the window of communication between Chinese and international cardiovascular physicians, but also become the platform of communication between the related cardiovascular subjects, the curdle for the training of young professional physicians and the stage to promote extraordinary personals. In order to promote the career of cardiology of our country, we will continue to set up the “Great Wall Outstanding Young Physician’s Award”. We sincerely welcome physicians, researchers and in-service graduates engaged in basic and clinic work of related subjects in cardiovascular field to join.

Qualification for evaluation:

　　1、 The age of the original author should be below 40.
2、 The English abstracts passed the peer review by experts will be in the candidate list.
3、The Participants need to give English report in the “Young physician forum”. The winner will get certificate of Honor and 5000 to 10000 RMB.

Supplement Issue:

The Clinical Cardiology magazine will publish supplement issues for the meeting. The outstanding English abstract will be published on that magazine (chief editor: C Richard Conti). The Chinese Medical Journal, which has continually obtained The State periodical reward for three years, will publish Chinese supplement issue for the meeting.
