In the year of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, a year just after the splendid centennial Olympic Games, we are very pleased to welcome you to Beijing to participate the 20th Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology (GW-ICC).
After over 30 years of reform and opening-up, China has made great progress in economic and social development. Born in this fast-evolving age, the GW-ICC has grown into the largest cardiovascular medicine meeting in China. The GW-ICC is not only the largest event of the year in cardiovascular medicine, but that it will also provide with the best of science and education. The Congress has opened up a new window both for the Chinese medical profession to know the outside world and for the overseas cardiologists to know their Chinese colleagues.
This year’s congress is jointly organized by the GW-ICC Organizing Committee, the International Society Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy (ISCP) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC). About 10000 experts, academician and professional from nearly 30 countries are invited to compose the most scientific splendid movement in cardiovascular medicine and correlative fields in 2009.
Prevention of cardiovascular disease is our scientific highlight this year and “cardiologists as lead runner of healthy China” is the special theme. In a four-day course, 183 sessions including 887 lectures, 17 international joint conferences, 38 specialty conferences and 24 surgery demonstrations is taking place in 14 lecture theaters. These lectures will cover broad issues in all fields of cardiology, including basic science, clinical, interventional geriatric and imaging cardiology, as well as cerebral vascular disease, diabetes, psychosomatic and community medicine. In 2 day course of the 15th ICCP, latest progress in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy will be reviewed by top experts from all over the world in this field. ACC’ 2009 Cardiology Update will highlight the most important clinical studies of the year. Cardiovascular intervention featuring on arrhythmias, coronary, congenital and structural heart diseases will be fully discussed in training courses, lectures, debates, case reports and live case demonstrations.
To celebrate the 20th birthday of the GW-ICC, talented cardiologists and major players in cardiology will exhibit their special work on calligraphy, seal cutting, painting and photography. The congress has indeed become the main platform for Chinese cardiologists to change views with international experts, present the best research, express individuality and personal charisma.
