W. Douglas Weaver
  Dr. Weaver was installed as president of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) on March 31, 2008 at the 57th Annual Scientific Sessions in Chicago. Dr. Weaver is the Division Head of Cardiovascular Medicine, the Darin Chair of Cardiology, Director of the Henry Ford Cardiovascular Institute at the Henry Ford Health System and Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University. His academic research interests include: cardiac resuscitation, heart failure and acute coronary syndrome. He has been an active leader of multi-center clinical trials and has published more than 250 original articles.


 
Hani N. Sabbah
  Dr. Hani N. Sabbah is a tenured professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and tenured professor of medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Sabbah is also the Director of Cardiovascular Research Center at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit and the center fully focused on understanding the pathophysiology of heart failure and on the development and testing of novel therapeutic modalities for the treatment of heart failure. Dr. Sabbah is the 2009 Program Co-Chair of the American College of Cardiology. He is the recipient of the 2005 American Heart Association Seymour Gordon Award for Distinguished Achievement.
Sanjay Kaul
  Sanjay Kaul is the Director of the Vascular Physiology and Thrombosis Research Laboratory at the Burns and Allen Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Kaul also directs the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program and the Cardiology Consult Service. His research interests are in the field of thrombosis and restenosis. He serves as Principal Investigator for several government-, foundation- and industry-sponsored grants and fellowships focused on these topics. Dr. Kaul has contributed more than 150 articles, abstracts and book chapters to the medical literature and is a frequently invited speaker at national and international medical conferences.



 
Jack Lewin
  Dr. Jack Lewin has been Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) since November 2006. Prior to coming to ACC, Dr. Lewin was CEO of the California Medical Association. Dr. Lewin serves on numerous national boards and advisory bodies.  He was the founder and president of the Physicians’ Foundations, which are among the top ten health-related philanthropies in the nation, focused on promoting quality, patient safety, and health information technology adoption.He is Chair, President, and Founder of the national Patient Safety Institute. Dr. Lewin has been honored with many awards.  These include the Health Leader of the Year Award from the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Officers’ Association, the Nathan Davis Award from the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association’s Justin Ford Kimbal Award, and the Arthur T. McCormack Award from the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.
Noel Bairey Merz
  C. Noel Bairey Merz, M.D., current is Women’s Guild Endowed Chair in Women’s Health and Medical Director of the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Heart Center, and the Preventive and Rehabilitative Cardiac Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She is Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles School. Research interests include: women and heart disease, mental stress and heart disease, the role of exercise and stress management in reversing disease, and the role of nutrition in heart disease. Currently, she is chair of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored WISE (Women’s Ischemic Syndrome Evaluation), which is investigating potential methods for more effective diagnosis and evaluation of women coronary artery disease.
