Toshiyuki Miyata is the director of Department of Etiology and Pathogenesis at National Cardiovascular Center Research Institute and a professor at Division of Health Sciences of Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine. He serves on the advisory board of Journal of Thrombosis and editorial board of Thrombosis Research. He was given Young Investigator Award by the Japanese Biochemical Society in 1992 and won The Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare Award in 2008 due to his outstanding   achievements.
